Billings Parks and Recreation has a packed summer full of Youth Tennis Lessons to offer kids of all ages. All lesson are Monday-Thursday and are held at public parks tennis courts throughout the city of Billings. Pioneer Park, Rose Park, Castle Rock, and Central Park will all be used for the summer. Lessons will be offered in morning and evening sessions.
City of Billings Tennis Academy
The 2023 City of Billings Tennis Academy kicks off with a summer of tennis learning and fun. As always, the program’s goal is to provide tennis activities for all ages and ability levels. Novice and Intermediate Youth will include lesson groups, fundamental training, and game play. All lessons follow the United States Tennis Association’s guidelines for youth progression and Net Generation. Each site will have all equipment needed for play including racquets. All lessons are coordinated by USPTA certified professionals and taught by Net Generation Certified Coaches.
High Performance Tennis Lessons
Intermediate and Advanced level lessons are designed for players beyond beginner and early intermediate abilities who are looking to bring their skills to the next level with high performance training and play. This program is taught by USPTA certified professionals. The two groups will include the Future Stars Class for Elementary and Middle School aged players, and the All Stars Class for High School Players. The program will focus on Stroke Development, Tactics and Strategy, Fitness, Match Play, and the Mental Aspects of competitive play. All lessons will be hosted at the newly reconstructed Central Park Tennis Courts.
B.T.A. Level V Jr. Tournaments
Looking to put your skills to the test? Throughout the summer, the Billings Tennis Association (BTA) hosts a level V and Level
VI Junior Tournament at Pioneer Park. The Eastern Montana Junior Open Level V tournament will take place June 9-11
and the First Interstate Bank Junior Level VI tournament will take place August 11-13.
Non-Elimination Summer Junior Championships
Tennis players of ages 6-18 are encouraged to participate in the 5th Annual Billings Parks and Recreation Non Elimination tournament. Players will be guaranteed 3 singles matches. Doubles will be offered in the afternoon and signups will be at the tournament desk. We will email you the match time by August 15th at 3pm.
