Parks staff have begun seasonal winterization activities across the park system. Current schedules are as follows:

  • Rose Pool: Winterization scheduled for completion no later than September 30.
  • South Pool: Winterization scheduled for completion no later than September 30.
  • Park Restrooms: Hawthorne, Arrowhead, Edgerton, South, Optimist, North, Highland, Central, Terry, Sacajawea, Gorham, and Skate Parks will close for the season on October 5. Castle Rock, Amend, Rose, Stewart, Pioneer, and Centennial will close October 19. Poly Vista will close October 26.
  • Splash Pads: Winterization is complete at South, Pioneer, North, and Highland Parks. Castle Rock and Terry are scheduled for September 21, and Hawthorne is scheduled for September 29.
  • Park Buildings: Winterization of the South Pool building is complete. Ten additional park buildings, including concession and craft buildings throughout the city, will be winterized in conjunction with irrigation shutdowns at their respective parks.
  • Irrigation Systems: Approximately 110 park irrigation systems require winterization. Staff will begin blowing out systems connected to city water on September 28. Parks receiving irrigation water from ditches will begin the week of October 12. Lower-use parks will be prioritized first to allow higher-use parks to remain operational longer. Six air compressors will be deployed across the city to complete the work.

Scheduled dates may be adjusted if forecasted temperatures create a risk of freezing.
