RECREATION

  • Cooking Instructor – $11.00 – $12.00 /hour DOE – 1 Position

Must be at least 18 years of age. Cooking Instructor is expected to demonstrate proper food handling procedures, food preparation, cooking basics, baking basics, frying basics, proper food storage practices, kitchen clean up and meal planning/preparation. The cooking classes are geared for kids ages 8 – 13. Cooking Instructor is required to prepare a daily menu, provide supervisor with grocery list each week and interact professionally with students/parents. Cooking classes should include basic skills and knowledge. Cooking Instructor should select age appropriate, yet healthy dishes. Cooking Instructor should ensure facility is thoroughly cleaned before and after food preparation. Safety considerations are a main focus for the Cooking Instructor.

  • Youth Basketball Coach – $10.00 – $12.00/hour DOE

Position runs from Jan 11, 2017 through March 11, 2017. Must be at least 16 years of age. As a youth basketball coach for Billings Parks & Recreation you will be expected demonstrate, instruct, and develop basic basketball specific skills with participants ages 9-12 years old. The coach is responsible for all aspects of directing the teams practice and play in games. An understanding of the sport of basketball is required. The instructors level of play should be at the high school level. Equipment is provided by Billings Parks and Recreation. Coaches must serve as a positive role model to players, parents, officials, and fellow coaches by following all rules and demonstrating good sportsmanship. Coaches must be able to teach basketball skills through the use of planned practices and games at an appropriate level for each participant. Coaches must be able to organize the players to participate in games while providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all players, giving each child an equal opportunity to participate.

  • Gym Supervisor – $11.00/hour

Position runs from January 9, 2017 through April 27, 2017. Gym Supervisors will be responsible for performing pre/post game duties to ensure facilities are ready and safe for league play. Applicants should be familiar with the rules and bylaws of the respective sport. Gym Supervisors provide oversight of league games to maintain fair play and promote good sportsmanship. Candidate must have the ability to quickly evaluate information and make decisions and judgment calls. Applicants must be able to resolve conflicts and stay calm while handling disputes. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and be able to work weekday evenings and Sundays. Duties include but not limited to; Professional behavior before and after the sport events. Ensure cleanliness of the facility after activities. Communicate with coaches and umpires/referees, as well as supervising scorekeepers. Communicate team scores and other information to recreation staff.

  • Adult Basketball Official – $30.00 / game (MOA-Official), $20.00 / game (Non-MOA)

Position runs from January 9, 2017 until April 27, 2017. As a City of Billings Parks, Recreation and Public Lands Sports Official you will be responsible for the game experience of our participants. Officials will ensure a safe and positive playing environment for all participants. Officials must be 18 years or older to officiate. Officials should be decisive, candid, approachable, reliable, and teachable. Applicants must be knowledgeable about game rules, have experience in the activity they are officiating, and able to work well with children and adults. You must have your own transportation and be able to work on Sundays. Salary is dependent on experience level and MOA status.

  • Adult Basketball Scorekeeper- $9.50/hour

Position runs from January 9, 2017 through April 27, 2017. Must be at least 16 years of age. As a City of Billings Parks, Recreation and Public Lands Scorekeeper you will serve the department’s sports programs by providing scorekeeping duties during select activities. Applicant must be familiar with the rules and bylaws of the respective sport and have the ability to operate timing devices and/or the official scorebook for the designated sport. You must have the ability to quickly evaluate information and make decisions and judgment calls. Applicant must be able to resolve conflicts and stay calm while handling disputes. Applicants must work well with children and adults. Duties include but are not limited to; Professional behavior before and after the sports events. Operate scoreboard and/or timing device for designated sport. Perform routine clerical and technical work keeping score sheets and/or time clock. Communicate with coaches and umpires/referees.
